Most people think of PowerPoint presentations as something they “have” to do. They view presentations as something that needs to be done to clarify viewpoints, but overall think they are boring and dull.

But what if I told you that presentations don’t have to be like that? That there is a way to make them exciting and even funny.

I am talking about the Power Presentation Pyramid by Jerry Weissman. He published the concept of the pyramid in his book “The Power Presenter – Technique, Style, and Strategy from America’s Top Speaking Coach”.

Jerry is known as the worldwide number one amongst Presentation coaches for companies. The Presentation Pyramid is an easy frame that acknowledges the five most important elements.

The 5 stages of the presentation pyramid

#1: The Story

Your story should focus on one thing: Why should the audience be interested in what you have to say? What’s there to win or loose? Why is it important? You have to ensure, that your story answers these questions in a way that animates your audience to get active.

You can find out how you do this in our blog article on “Storytelling”.

#2: Visualization

The next step includes many visually supporting elements like images, graphics, or diagrams. These should complement your story.

There is different ways and options how to include elements like that and you can find out more in the following articles in our blog:

#3: Delivery

After you have determined your content, you need to think about your delivery style, speaking to one person at a time. It is important that you are able to give someone your full attention and concentrate on that one person.

You can find more articles on how to hold your presentation in our blog:

#4: Tools

The next level of the pyramid is how you present your content, which is called the tools. This is extremely important because you can sell yourself and your presentation to the audience.

#5: Q&A

The most important part of your presentation is the question-and-answer part. You need to be able to answer any question that arises confidently. Create your Q&A sessions as engaging as possible, so you do not bore your audience.

You can find out more on how to create a good Q&A session in our article about Q&A’s in presentations.

Conclusion: Use the Power Pyramid for better presentations!

By following the pyramid framework, you can create presentations that are clear, concise, and compelling. If you master each element well, it will be much easier to convince your audience. And the best part is that they will be fun for both you and your listeners.

So, if you’re looking for a way to take your presentations to the next level, I recommend you check out the Power Presentation Pyramid. It could be the answer you’ve been looking for.
